There are not many similar places so conducive to pedestrian strolling, jogging or family cycling with such a spectacular view of the lake.<\/p>\r\n<p>People come to lac Mercier because of it\u2019s rural atmosphere.<\/p>\r\n<p>The surface of the trail in stone dust as well as the numerous rest stops, contribute to the natural appearance of this portion of the Linear Park.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.laurentides.com\/en\/linear-park\/cycling\"><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Linear park Le P&#8217;tit Train du Nord<\/span><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<p><strong>-Cross country ski:<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/lacmercier.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/PL2-2-1-e1585175127874.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-4790 size-medium aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/lacmercier.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/PL2-2-1-e1585175127874-169x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"169\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\r\n<p>Agreement was reached between the city and <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong><u><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.skidefondmont-tremblant.com\/en\/\">Mont-Tremblant Cross country ski<\/a><\/u><\/strong><\/span> during January 2011, to ensure grooming of the cross-country ski trails on lac Mercier portion of the Linear Park.<\/p>\r\n<p>Recommendations have been made such that trail grooming be done at a reasonable time, and that barriers impeding motorized vehicles, be left in place permanently.<\/p>\r\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/lacmercier.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/PL16-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-4796\" src=\"http:\/\/lacmercier.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/PL16-1-178x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"178\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lacmercier.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/PL16-1-178x300.jpg 178w, https:\/\/lacmercier.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/PL16-1-609x1024.jpg 609w, https:\/\/lacmercier.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/PL16-1.jpg 666w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 178px) 100vw, 178px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\r\n<h6 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Lake access along the linear park and MRC rules:<\/strong><\/h6>\r\n<p><strong>The beach at Lac Mercier<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<p>Lac Mercier offers free access for Mont-Tremblant residents, upon presentation of the \u00ab\u00a0Vivre Mont-Tremblant\u00a0\u00bb card, and at very affordable rates for other visitors and vacationers. This 232 km linear trail connects the cities of Bois-des-Filion (within Th\u00e9r\u00e8se-De Blainville MRC) and Mont-Laurier (within Antoine-Labelle MRC). This highly popular byking segment runs along Lake Mercier over 50% of its perimeter and cyclists, runners, walkers and passers-by can discover all the richness and beauty of Lake Mercier.<\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/lacmercier.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Parc-lin\u00e9aire-enfants.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-4938\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-4938 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/lacmercier.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Parc-lin\u00e9aire-enfants-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lacmercier.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Parc-lin\u00e9aire-enfants-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/lacmercier.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Parc-lin\u00e9aire-enfants-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/lacmercier.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Parc-lin\u00e9aire-enfants-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/lacmercier.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Parc-lin\u00e9aire-enfants.jpg 1224w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\r\n<p>A stop at the station in the old village of Mont-Tremblant, and a visit to the merchants and restaurateurs, near the public beach, are worth a look.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.villedemont-tremblant.qc.ca\/en\/municipal-organization\/portrait-of-mont-tremblant\/five-poles-five-flavours\/le-village\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Le Village<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/lacmercier.ca\/en\/occupancy-of-the-linear-park\/\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Occupancy of the linear park: contiguous properties (Access rights)<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/p>\r\n<p>Many property owners living near the linear park have to cross the bike path to access the lake shore. It is the responsibility of the MRC des Laurentides (the \u201cMRC\u201d) and the Ministry of Transport to define, and grant, according to their respective areas of responsibility, access rights to the lake and occupation permits to the right of way of the Linear Park.<\/p>\r\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/lacmercier.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/PL6.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-4928 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/lacmercier.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/PL6-300x107.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"107\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lacmercier.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/PL6-300x107.jpg 300w, https:\/\/lacmercier.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/PL6-768x273.jpg 768w, https:\/\/lacmercier.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/PL6.jpg 824w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<p>At the beginning of unauthorized access and occupation of the shoreline, abuses with regard to deforestation along the linear park, illegal installations of docks, stairs, platforms, sheds and permanent structures, as well as the mooring of boats in unauthorized places, the MRC had to take action in order to counter these abuses, and ensure protection against a significant loss of plant cover along the shoreline.<\/p>\r\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/lacmercier.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/PL7..jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-4798 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/lacmercier.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/PL7.-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lacmercier.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/PL7.-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/lacmercier.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/PL7.-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/lacmercier.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/PL7..jpg 960w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\r\n<p>A policy authorizing and managing access rights to the lake was adopted by the MRC council of mayors in April 2014.<\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/lacmercier.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/PL11-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-4804 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/lacmercier.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/PL11-2-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lacmercier.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/PL11-2-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/lacmercier.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/PL11-2-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/lacmercier.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/PL11-2.jpg 960w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\r\n<p>The implementation of its occupation policy for the area bordering the linear park provides for:<\/p>\r\n<ol>\r\n<li>the granting of new occupation permits to current lease holders and owners of land abutting the linear park; granting and renewing the permits meets the requirements clearly specified in the policy;<\/li>\r\n<li>the granting of a maximum period to non-compliant non permit-holding occupants to standardize their occupation;<\/li>\r\n<li>the obligation for new holders of occupancy permits to submit to the rules of use;<\/li>\r\n<li>the obligation to comply with municipal regulations with regard to the protection of the shoreline.<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n<p>The policy provides that at the end of the prescribed period, no occupancy new permits will be granted or renewed if the occupant does not comply with the provisions of the policy and municipal by-laws.<\/p>\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/lacmercier.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/PL10.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-4808\" src=\"http:\/\/lacmercier.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/PL10-170x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"170\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lacmercier.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/PL10-170x300.jpg 170w, https:\/\/lacmercier.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/PL10.jpg 212w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 170px) 100vw, 170px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\r\n<!-- \/wp:post-content -->\r\n\r\n<!-- wp:paragraph {\"textColor\":\"vivid-cyan-blue\"} -->\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The abandoned rail bed, now replaced by the linear park &#8220;Le petit-Train-du-Nord&#8221;, has a turbulent past, which has given rise to numerous efforts on our part in order to preserve the safety and tranquility of the homeowners adjacent to the trail.
